<![CDATA[Recently I had the opportunity to attend one of the gatherings by CIO Klub where CIOs were celebrating the 6th Anniversary of the club’s Chennai Chapter. The event took place in Hyatt, Chennai on 9th of December with the who’s who of IT professionals based in Chennai.
CIO Klub is a close-knit association of CIOs of Indian enterprises. They started in 2008 with 30 members and have grown to 950 members now across India. Their motto aptly says :

[bctt tweet=”“Share Experience, Enhance Knowledge, and Explore Business Solutions”” username=”livehappay”]

They are members from different verticals coming together to share knowledge and love for what they do. They have many get-togethers at regular intervals which keeps them up-to-date with current market trends and industry information. The KLUB also encourages entrepreneurial spirit by providing a platform for sharing and generating innovative ideas in the larger interest of the community.
There were a lot of sessions presented and gifts exchanged to encourage the CIOs in the event. Some of them really interested me even though I don’t share the same background.
One remarkable session was by Pradeep John, Weatherman of Tamil Nadu. He is the one who accurately predicted the oncoming of Chennai floods in 2015 & 2016 Vardah Cyclone. He spoke about how he witnessed a cyclone one night in 1994 that inspired him to learn more about them, their consequences and how to stay prepared. He told us about his journey across the cities where it rains in other parts of India and what his insights were. No doubt Pradeep was consulted by the event organizers before scheduling this event, to prevent the recurrence of last years Klub meeting which was a complete washdown due to heavy rains.
Another interesting presentation was by Dr Sumanth C Raman who is Domain Consultant – Healthcare at TCS Ltd who highlighted some startling facts about Indian healthcare sector.
His topic of discussion was ‘The myth about compassionate healthcare and how tech can make a difference’. He says technology can make a difference in healthcare by providing access, making it affordable and measuring & assuring a better quality of healthcare delivery. He introduced the concept of futuristic Healthcare Convergence which focuses on virtual ICUs and surgeries by robots where surgeons will sit back and perform it using a console. One very impactful point, that definitely left the hall a little perturbed was that Medical debt is second leading cause for pushing rural families into poverty in India. 60-70% of medical expenses are out of pocket.US is facing the same problem as well.

After day-long sessions on diverse and impactful themes, it was time to end the day on a “Happay” note. Arijit Roy, Director of BD & Sales, Happay, gave an enlightening session on ‘Pivotal Moment in Spend Management’. He spoke about the disruptive trends in 2017 and how they are impacting enterprises of all sizes in India. He delved deeper into the importance of business process automation from a CIO’s perspective.
Happay is an all-in-one expense management platform consisting of a powerful Corporate expense card interlinked to a web and mobile platform that enables corporates to seamlessly manage business payments, automate expense reporting, control fraudulent spends, and manage cash flows efficiently.
Happay’s revolutionary platform has been instrumental in automating the age-old system of employee expense management, Vendor payments, Opex expenses, Salary disbursement & Petty Cash Payments.
I would like to thank Mr. Sendhil Kumar ,Mr. Vijay Anand and all the members for pulling up this beautiful gathering.]]>
